Frequently Asked Questions
I have collected bellow the most frequently asked questions, but if you did not find an answer to your question, do not hesitate to contact me.
How should I photograph the furniture?
Capture the furniture in the best possible light! Begin by taking photographs of the front, back, and one side of the piece. If feasible, consider turning the furniture on its side to capture an image of the bottom as well. In cases where this isn’t possible, try placing your phone underneath the furniture and snapping a photo from that angle. This method will provide the upholsterer with a comprehensive visual representation of the furniture.
What is the difference between price estimation and price offer?
I can make an estimated evaluation of your furniture’s condition and calculate the necessary amount of materials based on the provided photos. However, photos do not show everything. To provide an accurate offer, I would need a more in-depth understanding of the furniture.
What is included in the price?
The price includes the evaluation, labor, and materials required. However, it does not cover the cost of the fabric or transportation expenses.
How can I find the best upholstery fabric?
When it comes to renewing old furniture, the price of the fabric becomes the most significant component on the invoice. Therefore, it is crucial to find the optimal choice, considering that it is the fabric that truly brings the furniture to life according to your preferences. I work in Koulutusyhtymä Tavastia’s workshop in Hämeenlinna, where there is an extensive range of fabric samples, allowing for a great selection. Additionally, customers have the option to explore fabric importers’ showrooms or browse through various internet websites. However, I prefer to offer personalized consultations, ensuring that the chosen fabric fulfills all of your unique requirements and desires.
Is it possible to get transportation for my furniture?
Yes, it is. We can arrange to have your furniture transported to upholstery workshop from your home, as well as ensure its safe return to your residence within 100 kms circle from Hämeenlinna.
What does an upholsterer do to my furniture?
Depending on the condition of the furniture, I remove everything to its wooden structure, essentially its “skeleton.” I start with regluing loose joints and reinforcing them as necessary. Then, I undertake the meticulous task of rebuilding the furniture from scratch. Whenever possible, I save and reuse old materials that are in good condition, further adding to the sustainability and preservation of the piece. This thorough process ensures that the final result is not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable and long-lasting.
Is it possible to change only the upholstery fabric?
Technically, it is possible, but not recommended. When the fabric wears out, it typically indicates that the underlying structures have also reached the end of their lifespan.
Will the wooden parts be fixed, too?
I cleaning it, removing any dirt or grime that may have accumulated over time. Additionally, I address minor scratches, grazes and imperfection.
What are the terms of payment?
Customers are required to pay for the uphostrey fabric in advance, while the payment for the labor and materials is made after the work is completed. Invoices will be issued by TaiTava Osuuskunta, and customers can settle their payments through bank transfers.
